PSI wins a 2016 Torch Award for Ethics from Better Business Bureau of Northwest NC

Torch Awards recognize businesses that have demonstrated excellence in business ethics.

Pet Sitters International has been named a recipient of a 2016 Torch Award for Ethics, presented by the Better Business Bureau (BBB) of Northwest North Carolina.

Four companies were named Torch Award winners during an awards reception and dinner on Nov. 10 at Bridger Field House in Winston-Salem.

Companies in the 2016 Torch Award competition were judged in one of four categories based on the number of employees. An independent panel of judges selected the finalists.

Pet Sitters International (PSI) was announced as the winner in the category for businesses with 10 or fewer employees. PSI, located in King, N.C., is the world’s leading educational association for professional pet sitters.

“Ethical business practices are a cornerstone of PSI’s business model—both for our staff and our professional pet-sitting members,” says PSI President Patti J. Moran. “To be recognized as having the highest standard of ethics is a special honor because it is a characteristic that is so integral to what we do every day.”

According to BBB of Northwest NC, the annual Torch Awards for Ethics recognize companies “whose leadership demonstrates a high level of personal character, ensures that the organization’s practices meet the highest standards of ethics, and consequently generates trust among their employees, customers and communities.”

“PSI was selected to be a 2016 Torch Award winner by our independent panel of judges due to their extensive written code of conduct and ethics, as well as internal events held throughout the year to increase employee understanding, appreciation and application of these principles,” says Claire Barham, communications specialist for BBB of Northwest NC. “This consistent focus on trust and integrity is what makes PSI deserving of a BBB Torch Award for Ethics.”
