Beth Stultz-Hairston
Beth Stultz-Hairston, president of Pet Sitters International, has worked in the pet industry since 2004. She is also the editor of Pet Sitter’s World magazine and author of The Professional Pet Sitter’s Startup Guide. She is an award-winning writer and frequent contributor to various pet-related publications and has also spoken at industry conferences, such as Barkworld Expo, CWA Annual Conference, Texas Pet Sitters Conference and Pet Sitter World Educational Conference.
Beth received her B.A., English, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and pursued her studies in compassion fatigue through Divine Mercy University and Regent University. She has obtained certification as both a Compassion Fatigue Educator and Compassion Fatigue Therapist and also pursued additional training in pet loss grief and companioning.

Priotizing self care is a hallmark of professionalism—and to thrive in this industry, it's vital to understand the causes and symptoms of burnout and compassion fatigue and to have a specific plan in place to priortize your self-care. In this interactive session, Beth will explore common causes of burnout and compassion fatigue in our industry, explain signs of compassion fatigue to be aware of in yourself and your team, and walk attendees through two self-assessments to determine your risk factors. As the session concludes, attendees will also walk through the steps to creating a personalized self-care plan to ensure they can live their best pet sitter lives for years to come!
