Sit-A-Pet's founder, Debra Hollander, has a love for animals that led her to an innovative concept: to care for pets in their own home while their owners are traveling. Because at the time there were no similar services in existence, she was unsure whether pet owners would warm to her concept. Not surprisingly, they loved it! Sit-A-Pet's first client — in 1980 — lived on Capitol Hill. Word spread rapidly and, along with grass roots advertising, the business grew to the enterprise it is today, serving parts of Washington DC, Virginia, and Maryland.
The careful selection of reliable and responsible pet sitters was and continues to be a key ingredient to the success of the business and the satisfaction of Sit-A-Pet's clients. Since 1980, we have cared for pets in more than 13,000 homes in the Washington DC Metropolitan area. True pet lovers take to our motto: Because there's no place like home.
