Pet Sitters International highlights importance of training this Pet-Sitter Education Month™
KING, N.C. (August 31, 2021) — September marks the sixth annual Pet-Sitter Education Month, an annual observance established by Pet Sitters International (PSI).
PSI, the world’s leading educational association for professional pet sitters, created Pet-Sitter Education Month to shine a spotlight on professional pet sitters’ commitment to continuing education and on the growing number of educational resources available to today’s professional pet sitters and dog walkers. The association also provides resources to pet parents to help them select a professional, local pet-care business.
Continuing education in the pet-sitting industry has taken on a new meaning the past two years as professional pet sitters and dog walkers have faced the COVID-19 pandemic, determined how to offer services safely, and learned best practices for meeting the needs of clients and their pets during this uncertain time.
“Professional pet sitters make continuing education a priority and take advantage of the wealth of options available to them today—from trainings on addressing separation anxiety to courses on pet first aid and CPCR,” said Beth Stultz-Hairston, PSI’s president. “Since 1994, PSI has been able to provide pet sitters and dog walkers with the educational tools and resources they need to succeed, and over the past year and a half we have been inspired by PSI members’ dedication to staying up-to-date on the latest best practices so they can continue providing exceptional service to their clients.”
PSI will be observing Pet-Sitter Education Month by offering discounts on PSI’s Pet Sitter World Educational Conference, PSI’s monthly PETSIT PRO subscription, and PSI’s CPPS-Certified Professional Pet Sitter® Exam. The association is also launching updated courses on the Teachable platform this month.
“After nearly three decades of providing members with easy-to-access educational tools to improve their businesses and the services they provide, PSI remains committed to our motto of ‘Pet-sitting excellence through education,’” said Patti J. Moran, PSI’s founder and CEO.
To assist professional pet sitters in taking advantage of educational opportunities in the industry, PSI’s Pet-Sitter Education Month section on petsit.com includes links to pet-sitter resources and a Pet-Sitter Education Month Media Kit for PSI members.
