About my Business

Hello, my name is Joseph Zercie! I have been an animal lover since I was young and have been pet sitting and dog walking for neighbors, family and friends since I was 10.

I have owned and cared for many of my own pets, including a Cotton Tail rabbit, 2 Dwarf rabbits, lizards, turtles, gerbils, guinea pigs, Hermit crabs, African Clawed Frogs, Norway rats, hamsters, freshwater fish and outdoor pond fish. Presently, I have a Box Turtle, a Bearded Dragon, and a Mini-Rex Rabbit.

I have taken care of Multiple pets which includes cat and dog care, small farm animals, including chickens, turkeys, pigs, and goats. I will pet sit and care for any animal, except large farm animals and snakes. I don’t mind caring for a snake, but not comfortable feeding them live animals. Some of my present experience is with Golden Retriever’s, Pit Bull lab mix, Pugs, Bernese Mountain Dogs, Greyhound and multiple cat breeds.

I volunteered at the Carbon County Environmental Education Center in Summit Hill, PA, and received after volunteering for 2 years, “The Volunteer of the Year” in 2014. I cared for and fed many types of animals, such as Fruit Bats, Box Turtles, ferrets, snakes (cleaned cages only) a rabbit and a chinchilla, I was also responsible for cleaning cages and feeding wild injured animals such as an Opossum, Ravens, Songbirds, Golden and Bald Eagles, Hawks, Great Horned, Barn and Barred Owls.

In 2016 I decided that I wanted to take my interest in animal care a step further. I joined Pet Sitters International and studied, and successfully completed the CPPS Pet Sitters International Course and became a CPPS -Certified Professional Pet Sitter! I also got Bonded, Insured and had an FBI background check done. I have documentation to support all these claims. I continue to be educated through Pet sitter’s International, taking courses and Webinars, whenever I can. Recently in May of 2019 I took courses again, to be recertified. I continue educated myself by keeping up with the most recent tips on animal care, such as new types of dog leases, how to engage your cat clients with exercises and stimulating games and toys when you come to visit them. Basic first aid and what to look for in your pet clients when visiting, health issues etc. I continue my quest to be educated and ready for any new pets to take care of.
