About My Business

Barbara's Pet Care is a Pet Sitting Service based in Lemon Grove, California since 2005. Pets are cared for in their own home environment to reduce stress and maintain routine as much as possible while their human family is away. Barbara's Pet Care is a member of Pet Sitters International (PSI) and is bonded and insured with the PSI approved Business Insurers of the Carolinas. Barbara's Pet Care services the San Diego California areas of Lemon Grove, East San Diego County, La Mesa, El Cajon, Rancho San Diego, Spring Valley, Rolando, San Diego State University (SDSU) College Area, Del Cerro, San Carlos, Talmadge, Mt Helix, and nearby areas. Barbara’s Pet Care is family owned and operated. While Barbara is the primary care provider, other family members are covered by insurance and experienced to assist in pet care. We offer vacation pet care in your home with drop-in visits of 30 minutes average length. Longer visits are available. I customize the visits to suit your pets’ routine and needs. Dog walking is another popular service. I am available to help your pets get out and exercise, get a crate break, or just get some love when you need to be away from home for many hours. I’d like to tell you more about me. I’m from Chicago where my mom was the neighborhood animal rescuer and fosterer. Raised with many of the pets she couldn’t find homes for, I learned how to accept, love, and care for pets with varied and sometimes challenging personalities. I worked at the Lincoln Park Zoo while in Chicago and at Project Wildlife after moving to San Diego. I’ve lived in Lemon Grove with my human and pet family since 1990. While our family always includes several dogs and cats, over the years we have loved and cared for many small mammals, reptiles, birds, and fish too. It has been a wonderful experience working with the local animal welfare group Feral Cat Coalition who helped spay and neuter several cats on our property whom we now care for and consider family. These cats have taught me a tremendous amount about the feline personality and made me a better pet sitter. I have a University Degree in Business Administration and 20 years’ experience as a procurement specialist. I created Barbara’s Pet Care to merge my passion for animals and their care with professionalism and business experience. I bring this experience and devotion to caring for your pets!
