Chosen as Pet Sitters International 2009 Pet Sitter of the Year! Active Paws is a professional dog walking and dog sitting service that provides peace of mind to responsible dog owners in affording safe and dedicated care. Each animal in our care will be treated as our own by maintaining a healthy lifestyle to ensure a happy and healthy pet. We believe through exercise, socialization, and better nutrition we can create a happy more balanced pet. We do this because as animal owners, we understand the need for responsible and trustworthy care for our pets when we couldn't be there.

Active Paws Inc. is fully insured and bonded. Active Paws Inc. is the proud winner of the 2009 Pet Sitter's International Pet Sitter of the Year Award. We come highly recommended on many online review sites and from your friends or neighbors. Active Paws Inc. is also proud to have all our staff certified in pet first aid and CPR. We proudly use pet sitting software to efficiently and accurately manage our business so that we can focus most on caring for your pets.

​“Active Paws has been taking care of our two large dogs since June, 2004, both through regular walks and by staying at our home when we travel. Our experience has been overwhelmingly positive. They are responsible, reliable and flexible. Our dogs absolutely adore them-so much so that when we come home from trips, they seem almost a little disappointed to have us back. One of our dogs has a chronic medical condition, and we completely trust Active Paws to deal with his medications and to handle any problems that could arise. The same dog also had to have major orthopedic surgery (TPLO twice!) last summer with a long and slow recovery with severe restrictions on his activities. The Active Paws team was fabulous in dealing with him during what was a very difficult time for him (and us!). They even volunteered to pick him up at the hospital with me to help heave him in and out of the car and to make sure he didn’t try and stand up in the car on the ride home. I was so grateful for their help and support. Last year, we traveled to China for three weeks and were basically impossible to reach during that time. Not once did we worry that our dogs weren’t being well taken care of at home. Indeed, we came home to find our dogs perfectly happy and healthy, and our house was even cleaner than when we’d left! We’ve moved quite a lot in recent years and have therefore dealt with many dog walkers and dog sitters. Active Paws is by far the best. They are exceptionally dedicated both to their human and canine clients. I wouldn’t hesitate for an instant to recommend Active Paws to anyone seeking top quality pet care.”

“I am a huge fan of Cara and Gerard. I had a dog walker who charged more, didn’t show up on time, would only stay 7 minutes and not play with my dog the whole time. Both my wife and myself occasionally work from home, and when we do we’re usually cooped up in our office. It was then that we noticed that we really weren’t getting the service we expected from our previous dog walker. I had two people tell me that all dog walkers are like that. I liked Cara and Gerard’s attitude and figured I couldn’t do much worse than I was so I took a chance on them. It’s been great.​

"At least 10 times or so I’ve been home when Gerard comes over. My dog has an absolute blast with him. They always show up, always play hard with my dog, even if it’s 2 degrees outside.

"They also keep us up to date with dog-related stuff. Our dog mysteriously started getting a little aggressive over a two-week period. I thought that maybe somebody came into the yard and did something mean to him. When Gerard heard about it he asked if we had changed his food to a higher protein, which I had done to help him with some scratching. It turns out that that can cause aggression. I put him on Solid Gold at the suggestion of Gerard and he’s been back to normal since.”​
