Pet Sitters International President Named 2015 Pet Age ICON Recipient
Pet Sitters International (PSI) President and Founder Patti J. Moran has been named a winner in the 2015 Pet Age ICON awards program. The awards program is produced by Pet Age, a national publication covering all things in the pet industry, providing the latest industry news and more.
Pet Age ICON awards honor pet-industry leaders who have shown long-term commitment to the success of the pet industry, based on experience, integrity and leadership. To qualify, a nominee had to meet selection criteria that included having at least 20+ years in the pet manufacturing or service industries.
Moran developed pet sitting as a profession after starting her own pet-sitting business in North Carolina in 1983. After word of her business spread to other parts of the United States‚ Moran was prompted to put her how-to advice on paper; the premier reference‚ Pet Sitting for Profit‚ was published in 1987.Through the years, it has been considered by many to be the “bible” of professional pet sitting.
In 1994 after 10 years of growing her pet-sitting business, she set out to help other pet lovers turn their passion for pets into profit and founded Pet Sitters International. Since that time, PSI has helped thousands of pet-loving entrepreneurs start successful pet-sitting services.
ICON Winners were chosen by an independent panel of judges including: John Cullen of Bulldog Marketing and Sales Inc., Erin Terjesen of Propel Communication and Elizabeth Yong of Forever Yong PR.
“Receiving this award is truly an honor,” says Moran. “I appreciate the recognition of my years in the pet industry. But more importantly, I’m pleased about the focus this places on the professional pet-sitting industry.”
Moran still leads the day-to-day operations of PSI, and the organization is the world’s largest educational association for professional pet sitters.
“Pet services are one of the fastest growing areas of the pet industry, and PSI pet sitters are the ones who are seeing pets on a daily basis,” adds Moran. “Pet sitters become trusted advisors to pet parents and are observing habits, trends and have an inside look at the needs of pets and their owners.”
The ICON award winners will be recognized and profiled in the September 2015 issue of Pet Age.
