Pet Sitters International names 2025 Pet Sitter of the Year™

Jessica Milam, founder and co-owner of Fur Services Fur Pets, has been named this year’s recipient of the professional pet-sitting industry’s highest honor and will represent the industry throughout 2025.

KING, N.C. (January 7, 2025)—Pet Sitters International (PSI) has named Jessica Milam, founder and co-owner of Fur Services Fur Pets in Aubrey, Texas, the 2025 Pet Sitter of the Year™. PSI, the world’s largest educational association for professional pet-sitting and dog-walking business owners, presents this award annually to a member who exemplifies the passion and professionalism of the pet-sitting industry.

“PSI’s membership is comprised of the most educated, professional and passionate pet-care business owners in the world, so selecting the annual recipient for this honor is no easy task for the judging panel,” said PSI President Beth Stultz-Hairston. “Jessica’s focus on setting exceptional pet-care standards in her local market, giving back to her community, and working to educate and elevate fellow pet-care professionals makes her an ideal recipient for this title and ensures she will thrive in this role in the coming year.”

As PSI’s 2025 Pet Sitter of the Year, Milam will serve as the “face of the professional pet-sitting industry” throughout 2025 and be officially recognized at PSI’s 2025 Pet Sitter World Educational Conference in San Antonio, Texas, this fall.

Milam, who operates her professional pet-sitting business with her husband Chris, joined PSI in 2018 and earned the CPPS-Certified Professional Pet Sitter® designation the following year. In addition to providing pet-care services to nearly 300 households and managing a team of 14 staff sitters currently, Milam is actively involved in PSI, serves on the board of the Texas Pet Sitters Association, and recently launched a new initiative—Feeding Our Fur Friends—which donates a meal to shelter pets for every visit Fur Services Fur Pets performs. In addition, Milam and the Fur Services Fur Pets team also specialize in caring for anxious pets and pride themselves on their “life happens” approach, offering flexibility for both their clients and their team members.

Milam shared that being named 2025 Pet Sitter of the Year was more than an honor; she also sees it as “a responsibility to carry forward the principles that have made Fur Services Fur Pets a trusted name in North Texas.”

“I plan to use this platform to advocate for more improved pet welfare and support for animal shelters and compassionate care for anxious pets,” explained Milam. “Together with Pet Sitters International, we hope to continue shaping the future of responsible and compassionate professional pet care.”
