PSI President Patti J. Moran appointed to Fear Free Advisory Group
Pet Sitters International President Patti J. Moran will serve on behalf of the professional pet-sitting industry on the advisory group for the Fear Free initiative developed by Dr. Marty Becker, “America’s Veterinarian.”
Pet Sitters International President and Founder Patti J. Moran has been appointed to the Fear FreeSM Advisory Group. The Fear Free Initiative is an innovative movement developed by “America’s Veterinarian” Dr. Marty Becker to “take the ‘pet’ out of ‘petrified’ and get pets back into practices.”
Becker is expanding the Fear Free initiative with leading board-certified veterinary experts in partnership with additional industry sponsors, strategic alliances and an advisory group. The Fear Free program educates and certifies veterinary professionals in the creation and delivery of Fear Free veterinary visits that aim to prevent and alleviate fear, anxiety, and stress in pets and the people who care for them. Starting in 2018, entire practices can become eligible for Fear Free certification.
As a member of the advisory group, Moran will contribute on behalf of the professional pet-sitting industry.
“As trusted pet-care advisors, professional pet sitters can play an instrumental role in educating pet owners about the importance of the Fear Free initiative,” explains Moran. “I am excited to bring a different perspective to the advisory group, highlighting how professional pet sitters can work with their pet-owning clients and their Fear Free Certified veterinarians to ensure pets’ physical and emotional well-being.”
Moran is the author of Pet Sitting for Profit and developed pet sitting as a profession after starting her own pet-sitting business in North Carolina in 1983. She founded Pet Sitters International (PSI) in 1994. PSI is now the largest association for professional pet sitters in the world.
