The American Pet Products Association (APPA) reports that a total of $136.8 billion was spent on pets in the U.S. alone in 2022, up from the $123.6 billion spent on pets in 2021. The APPA also estimates that once totals are in, U.S. pet spending in 2023 will total $143.6 billion.
In 2023, an estimated $11.8 billion of these pet expenditures were spent on pet services, such as pet sitting and dog walking—up from $11.4 billion spent on these services the previous year.
