About My Business

After graduating from the University of Minnesota with a degree in English, Julie became an administrative assistant for non-profits, including the Salvation Army and Girl Scouts. Her love of animals steered her to volunteer for several years at St. Paul's Como Zoo and the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of MN. She also participated in fundraiser walks for the Humane Society. Eventually, this lead to another degree in veterinary technology from Argosy University in 2003. She worked as a vet tech for over two years before starting her pet sitting business.

Julie is owner and sole operator of Nature Girl's Pet Services, LLC and has been in business since 2006. Her veterinary technician experience comes in handy with diabetic clients, clients that need subcutaneous fluids and/or clients that need other medications administered.

Julie does in-home visits (up to 30 minutes or hour-long), and midday dog walks. Other services included in her pricing are watering plants -- inside and out, taking in the mail and newspapers, alternating lights, closing curtains in the evening and opening them in the daytime, turning on/off a radio or TV for background noise (some animals like that). She strives to leave a place better than when she found it. It's this attention to detail that gets noticed by owners and leaves happy, contented pets.

"I take my job seriously", Julie says. "After all, pets are part of the family and should be treated as such. Also, I am in people's homes and one must have integrity and honesty to continue in this business."

The initial "meet and greet" or "consultation" takes about an hour. It is a thorough question and answer meeting that needs to take place before the first walk or visit. This not only provides information crucial to doing the job, but puts the client at ease. After all, don't you want to know who will be caring for your pet and property while you are gone?
